OpenTender - Open Source Tender Management Solution Released FOR RELEASE 20th FEBRUARY 2008 Open source solutions firm Cybersource Pty. Ltd. today announced the launch of the OpenTender project. OpenTender delivers a high-quality, web-based system for managing tenders and vendor responses. OpenTender is free GPL software and is available for immediate download from SourceForge.net. OpenTender allows you to: - define and create online Request for Tenders (RfT), - publish these in the form of an online questionnaire to selected vendor organisations, over the Internet, - enable those vendors to respond online, and - manage, store and extract tender response data for review and analysis in your tool of choice (database, spreadsheet, etc). "With its introduction, OpenTender reduces the barrier-to-entry for any public-sector or commercial organisation which seeks to deploy a highly-functional, open, scalable, online tender management platform," said Con Zymaris, OpenTender project lead and CEO of Cybersource Pty. Ltd. "OpenTender brings online procurement capabilities to every organisation, government agency or business. And being open source means OpenTender can be extended to do exactly what an organisation wants." OpenTender can be installed on a standard LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) application stack with minimal effort. It should also work on other operating systems (eg, Solaris, FreeBSD, Mac OSX and Windows 2003). "In designing OpenTender, we decided to build upon the excellent work done by the LimeSurvey project (http://www.limesurvey.org/). OpenTender therefore benefits from the ongoing efforts of that development community. OpenTender exemplifies the immense value and utility of Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) by allowing one great application to form the basis of another, benefiting all computer users in the process," continued Zymaris.
